Ring-necked Pheasant
Our beautiful refugee
Jewel in vacant lots
Detroit is a town of immigrants and refugees. Despite what is in the popular news cycle, it always has been. One of the oddest (and most beautiful) groups I see walking around the city are the Ring-necked Pheasants. I was a little surprised when I first looked out my office window (between Eastern Market and Heidelberg Project) and saw a game bird strutting around. Few things walking down that road phased me after that.
