A few years ago I started making handmade rosaries. I like to think I make really nice ones, but some turn out better than others. One of the first one I made was with handmade copper and black beads, and finished with gunmetal fixtures. The beads are better than almost anything else I have used before or since. I also love how the darker metal plays off the colors in the beads. I have almost never shown it to everyone, because I don’t want to part with it. Someday I will, but I want it to have a special home.
There is also the Striped Agate Rosary that I made. It is also beautiful, but it also has a centerpiece that contains wood from the chapel from the visions of the Miraculous Medal. The agate has a nice feel in the hand. I also like the feel of handmade Venetian millefiori beads that I have used on a few Rosaries. They are beautiful, but also slightly irregular. They give the handmade Rosaries a truly handmade feel.
I really enjoy making them, and I hope others find beauty in them. I hope that beauty also extends into their prayer life. That the beauty blossoms in the life of the person who uses them and draws them closer to Our Lady, and The Lord. Even if this was true for one person, I would feel that it was worth while.
