I know Fox Squirrels are not everyone’s favorite thing to have around the house, but I love them. While we also have Red Squirrels and Gray Squirrels running around there is something special about the big lazy Fox Squirrel. The zippy little Red’s are fun, (and more destructive), but the Fox will barely run away when they see me.
We have one little guy who just sits in the tree and waits for us to get out of the “his” yard. If we watch him to closely, he just moves to the other side of the tree and takes a nap. He never seems to be in a hurry.
Our bird feeders have baffles on them, so none of the squirrels can get up to them. Or they have not in the last eight years. They just clean up the seeds the birds drop. Yet of the many squirrels and chipmunks that hang around, there is one Fox that will run up to look at us when we open the door. There is a Fox that will take a nap on our deck. I like to think it is the same one each time. He bring us joy each time we see his antics in our yard.
