We again found Eastern Pondhawks on the wing. For some reason we only got good photos of the green females again this year. I thought we found a male (who was blue), but once I looked at the photos it is pretty clear it is a Blue Dasher.
Eastern Pondhawk are fun dragonflies to find. They tend to fly really close to the kids and I, and spend a lot of time on the ground. Unlike the Giant Darner (Anax walsinghami) that look like little birds flying around, but are much too quick for my camera, and never seem to land.
